G’day all,

This is a great spot to visit close to Devonport (approx 40klms away).

Leven Canyon has a three walks:

1> Lookout Walk (approx 15 minute return); or

2> Fern Walk (approx 25 minute return

3> A loop joining the Lookout Walk and the Fern Walk.  These tracks join up via a 693 step walk from the botton of the Fern Walk to the Lookout (known as the forest steps).  This walk will take you about 45 mins.

We started on the Lookout trail and decended the steps I have mentioned above.  I imagine this is the easier way to do the loop trail.  Walking up the steps would have certainly been a lot tougher!

The forestry on the trail is very picturesque and reminds me of the more temperate forests you get in SW of Western Australia.  The lookout is an amazing view over the canyon.  You can see the far side canyon wall and see the river snaking through the bottom of the canyon from above.

I highly recommend a visit to the Leven Canyon.  The walk is not rugged and could be done by most people.

I should also add that there is room for caravans in the carpark and some grassy areas where you could sneek in a night or two camping out under the stars.

Check it out!!

PS:  Part II of Leven Canyon is coming tommorrow.  You travel further down the road and walk into the canyon, cross the river and head towards Devils Lair!!!
