G’day I am Bushman Bud.

Bushman Bud...Enjoying Australia

G'day I am Bushman Bud

Why am I blogging?

To raise money for conservation.  I want to buy parcels of land throughout Australia and the world.  Place these parcels of land in a trust and reserve the land for nature and wildlife to exist in peace for time.  The land will never be sold or developed and will exist for the recreation of those that hold common values of respect and a love of the great outdoors.  This land will also serve as a haven for 4WD’ers that respect the environment we all share and are continually frustrated with track closures.  No I am not asking for money…yet.  Your generosity will be gauged by the value, fun and enjoyment you will get from this site.

What am I doing.  I am blogging my trip around Australia in the form of video, photos and text bringing to you some amazing footage and information on special places to visit in Australia.  These are not your ordinary run of the mill tourist attractions but rather those special destinations you can get to with some imagination, generally a 4WD (but not always) and a strong desire to visit some of Australia’s remote destinations.

How, well I have an awesome 4WD that I have put together over 4 years (thanks to Gadget for all your help), just purchased a 21′ Kedron Top Ender serious offroad 4WD caravan, sold my business (accounting practice) that I built for 6 years, placed all of my families worldly possessions in a sea container on a friends farm (thanks Geoff, Dallas, Nathan & Jo), rented out my family home in Perth indefinately, taken my children out of school (Joey Jess & Orangatang Amy) to home school them, acquired a sense of humour, taken a deep breath and stepped out of life to follow my dreams with my kids and my beautiful bride Lovely Lynda.

With all that said, wherever we travel we will bring you text and video bloggs of some amazing destinations, crazy adventures, 4WD tracks, 4WD tips, show you our stuff ups, triumphs and whatever else happens.  You will receive great information on remote destinations, walks, national parks, waterfalls, landmarks, etc.  You will also get camping tips from many years of experience with 4WD tips and information, 4WD with a serious offroad caravan and more.  What else can I say other than see you on the tracks…

Lastly, this is a live post so if you want to see something, know something or experience something, have any questions or just want to share our dreams, your dreams or your thoughts please post them.

Anyway this is Bushman Bud…enjoying Australia!!!!

    Hey Strahany!

Good to hear from you and thanks for tuning in. I watched a game of cricket yesterday at Ulvertsone in Tasmania. It was a 45 over game (each side) starting at 4:00pm. It was good to see a game of cricket at club level after missing out this season, believe it or not they turned on some lights later in the day. The standard unfortunately was lacking and I reckon our 7th grade side would have given either side a wallopping.

    Keep tuned.

    Regards Buddha.

  3. Hi BB,

I have a website called Camperz.com.au. I have added your site to my new Travel Diaries category. I have also put your site as a featured link on the home page. Let me know if you have any problems with this.

    You have a great site…congratulations.

    regards

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Thanks very much for the listing and featured link – awesome. Hey if it helps get information into other peoples hands I am all for it! It will also create a lot more interest in what I am doing (should say me and my family). I appreciate your generosity in doing this, once again thanks.

Just so you are aware we have a large volume of video blogs, diary entries and photos we are adding dating back to the start of our trip in July last year when we left Perth. The most detailed area that we have covered is around the Victorian Alps, great free camping spots in the Biggera Valley and in and around Corryong not to mention the more remote spots around Tom Groggin once you get offroad. We have 4WD trips and tracks to be posted including some awesome trips in the snow (video blogged). Now we have got the hang of what we are doing we have great plans for the site. Any ideas would be appreciated. I will also add your site as a link – just allow me to figure that one out – will do a twitter and facebook blog plus Bushman Bud blog now but will add a more featured link later.

    Kind Regards

    Bushman Bud

  5. Hi BB

Thanks for the blog and eventual link. Unfortunately my site is fairly new and doesn’t have a heap of traffic as yet. I haven’t promoted it a great deal due to the fact that I am off overseas for a month next week so my postings will cease. I will be promoting it heavily after I get back.

    Regards

    Michael

BTW Feel free to email any info any time.

  6. BTW I have changed the description of your site by grabbing a piece of your intro.

  7. Bushman Bud says:

Thanks Michael, lets see if we can help you out on this one.

    Hey Buddha,

Great site you have here. I wonder when you get the time to actually drive up these mountains with all the detail I’ve seen you’ve put in. I suppose being semi-retired has it’s rewards and perks.
I will keep following your site to keep tabs on what you and you’re lovely girls are all doing, it looks fantastic! You’re missing the highs and lows at cricket, we smash teams one week, lose outright the next. Got my 100 game mug in hand last night and could say I was a little disappointed you couldn’t be there to join in the roasting and toasting (Greenrange cricket club demands the roasting take up at least 90% of the speeches). I look forward to catching up with you guys hopefully soon for dinner and or a beer(s).

  9. Bushman Bud says:

    Well hello Willo,
Fantastic news and congratulations on the 100 game achievement, it says a lot about your dedication to the club – well done!! It was disappointing not to be there celebrating with you but I did do it in kind last Saturday when I left a voice message on your phone and sent you a picture of country criacket in Tassie. I watched a game at Ulverstone, it was…mmm…very backyard to say the least. Started at 4:00pm and ended under lights, 45 overs a side. I was feeling a little edgy watching it. In fact had they been one short I would have charged onto the field. We are having a fantastic time travelling and the country side in Tassie is awesome. We are also getting rather fit heading up all these mountain peaks. It will be good for my return, I’ll be stronger and very refreshed and ready to enjoy the second half of my cricket career!!

I am back in Perth on 1 March 2010 and am having a general get together with friends at the Mighty Quinns Tavern from 2:00pm onwards until we fly out again later that night. It is the same pub we met you and Amy at for dinner one night. Come along and share a drink hey! Spread the word around for us too hey!

I will also be down at the cricket club for the last evening of the regular season to say G’day to everyone and enjoy in the end of season festivities. Let all the guys know cause I am looking forward to saying hi. Hey if the club is short for that weekend and I am needed then a might even get a game hey – not as 12th man though!! I’d rather sit on the side line and have a drink, than be 12th man. Given a chance to bowl or bat, well that’s a different story, ha, ha.

Take care and catcha soon, good to hear you are following along!!

  10. Hi Bud,
I have just discovered your site after watching some youtube of you and your great family on Black Bluff. Actually, I climbed it the day after you did (Saturday 6th) with my father-in-law (70), my son (14) and a mate of mine. I am super impressed with your two little girls for completing that walk. Its now late on Wednesday night and I’m still pretty sore in the legs !!
Glad to see you’ve spent some time in our little piece of paradise (Ulverstone area). Good luck with the rest of your journey.
    Cheers
    Fred

  11. Bushman Bud says:

    Hi Fred,

Thanks for your wonderful feedback, I will pass it onto the girls. Yes they are machines and since the start of our trip are really enjoying their walks and the challenge of getting to the top of mountains. They have quite a credible list now. We are loving Tassie and enjoying our stay. The Ulverstone 4WD Club are kindly taking us out this weekend around Black Bluff somewhere and we are really looking forward to it. Please keep posted and drop us a line of places we can visit whilst we are enjoying things. We plan to be here for 3-6 months.

    Regards

    BBushman Bud

  12. Trish says:

    Hey guys,

Are you still heading to Balfour & if so what are you doing for the rest of that weekend (long weekend). We are thinking of camping at Montagu (15kms west from Smithton), & spending the Sunday having a look around as well. Got my phone back today so will also send you a text. Email me directly if you can.

    Cheers

  13. Trish says:

P.S How is the Lovely Lynda going with the navigation…

  14. Tina says:

Well done! Try to rip a few more people off mate! You may fool dumb people….hopefully not too many will be fooled.

  15. Bushman Bud says:

Well hi there Tina, its people like you that obviously look for the bad in people and live their life as a victim. Unfortunately this means you don’t achieve your dreams and goals. For that to happen you need the help of like minded people. Fortunately there are many people out there who do believe!!! Enjoy life, take a chill pill and when you have some good hard facts about us and what we are doing…then make your informed comments and we will be only too happy to publish your happy story. Until then watch us…enjoying Australia…good on ya!!!!
