G’day all,
Time flies when you are having fun…I am recapping events as I remember them and will then writeup a post in the coming days.
6-7th October – Lake Tinnaroo, more Red Claw, swimming, Curtain Fig Tree and final visit to Mareeba Coffee Factory. Some generous people also lent us a boat for a couple of hours for sight seeing on the Lake.
8th October – On the road again, left Lake Tinnaroo and made camp 20 klms North of Kennedy Store.
9th October – Left van at Kennedy Store and headed out to Blencoe Falls via Kirrama Valley Road. Cam back same way and stayed at Kennedy Store overnight.
10th October – Travelled to Wallaman Falls, leaving caravan half way up hill in scenic lookout which became our very scenic overnight camping spot. Used afternoon viewing falls and walking down to base of falls.
11th October – Travelled to Jourama Falls NP and stayed the night.
12th October - Walked to Jourama Falls Lookout and continued driving to Airlie Beach staying overnight at gravel pit 20klm West of Airlie Beach.
13th to 19th October - Stayed at Big 4 in Airlie Beach. Allowed kids some fun in the massive playground and swimming pool – sand flies were shocking.
14th October – Lunch at Airlie Beach Sailing Club and explored town.
15 – 17th October – Day at caravan park, playing Junior Monopoly and Mini Golf, swimming and playing
18th October – Sailing on Ragamuffin Maxi Yacht in Whitsunday’s. Sailed out to Hayman Island and Blue Pearl Bay where we snorkled for 1.5 hours before sailing back to Shute Harbour.
19 October – Dinner at pub after play day
20th October – Exploring surrounding area of ???
21st October – Onwards to Mackay and our farm stay at JD’s, via Armstrong Beach
22nd October – Day of exploring Mackay and shopping for Jessy’s birthday presents.
23rd October – Trip to local beach with JD and dogs, travelled towards Cape Palmerston on bush 4WD track after beach getting bogged in Amy Creek bog hole, sunk car on drivers side – very wet carpet, damaged camera lens, dead UHF radio, Ipod, lost sunnies, etc – great day out!
24th October – Mud crabbing at local creek with JD and Kerri – caught 5 nice muddies and had fish.
25 – 26 – Farm stuff, herding cows, herding horses, riding 4 wheeler bike, shooting JD’s gun collection (awesome) including shooting clay pidgeons with double barrel shotgun. Topping off awesome day with campfire each night during stay – Thanks JD & Kerri, awesome time and one of the best memories of holiday.
27th October – Heading West to Clermont and Teresa Dam for some Red Claw and swimming.
28th October and on – Plan to head to Canarvon Gorge before returning to Coast near Gladstone and then onto Bundaberg.
