G’day all,

Monday morning of the Tassie LWE and time to say goodbye to our friends at the Tamar Valley 4WD Club.  We had a great LWE with some fantastic offroad action and many a good chin wag with great people.

We have been in Tassie for 5 months and to be completely honest have just had enough of the cold weather.  When your on holiday cold weather is a choice and we had experienced our fair share.  Tassie was just getting plain cold and the thrill of being there was diminishing by the hour.  Snow around your caravan will do that!

When we first tried to book our passage back to the mainland we were met with a 6 week wait…mid July…God help us!  Luckily a few cancellations helped us out and if we could get to the ferry for Wednesday evening we were heading to Melbourne.

So what to do for a few days.  Firstly off to Burnie for some milder coastal weather.  At Sulphur Creek just outside Burnie you can stay right on a coastal peninsula with fantastic views right on your doorstep.  That is what is amazing about Tassie and caravaning in free camping locations.

Arriving in Burnie at 2:00pm we set up camp and went for a drive around the hinterland enjoying the views around the Coast.  We then headed back to camp for a play on the beach with the kids…the beach being 5m away from the van, ha, ha…making you jealous yet?  And that is how we spent the rest of the afternoon.

The plan for our last couple of days in Tassie were a trip to the nut at Stanley and getting the van and car ready for the trip across Bass Strait.
