We were looking forward to catching up with Jeff and Tamara, Lynda’s brother in law and took the opportunity to camp on their front lawn. With a bit of pruning with the chainsaw we were able to fit between a couple of trees and get some nice shade. We had a great time here catching up with family and relaxing. Jeff and Tamara just love family and it is such an easy place to stay and enjoy.
We had always wanted to explore the Moore River from Guilderton upstream so we took the opportunity to drive the 80klms from Sorrento to Guilderton armed with Remo. We spent the afternoon plodding along probably 7 to 8 klms upstream where we eventually ran out of water depth. It was a beautiful river to explore and we enjoyed seeing things that only the boat or a canoe would allow. On the way upstream we had spotted a rope swing out into the river which we stopped at on the way back to Guilderton. The kids had a ball, flying out of the river and jumping off the rope from a few metres high and hitting the river in various forms of tangles. There were some great belly flop moments and lots of laughs. Once the kids had tired themselves out here, it was back in the boat and downstream another couple of klms to the big area of huge sand dunes where you can sand board down the dunes into the river skimming out into the river like a skipping rock…what awesome fun, except we had no sand board. Not to be deterred, the resourceful kids quickly made friends with a family that has a sand board and enjoyed a few descents of the sand dunes, screaming and laughing as they eventually fell into the river. Well done girls and thanks to the family that made it possible. Near dark we headed back to the boat ramp, blessed by another awesome day out.
Whilst at Jeff’s we spent Australia Day at Ross and Jane’s with Nathan and Joe, played some cricket and caught up with my brother and wife, Wayne and Janette. Lynda’s mum and dad also came for a quick visit on their way to lunch.
With a week enjoyed at Jeff’s it was time to head South to explore our old stomping ground around Pemberton.
