Melborne is the only major city on the Australian mainland that I haven’t visited as yet.  Being a cricket fanatic, the home of cricket (MCG) has always been a drawcard as too has the social scene and shopping.  Not to mention some nearby awesome country side.

We left Tawonga Caravan Park about 11:30am travelling to Mt Beauty where we connected with the Great Alpine Road.  Up over the last of the mountains of the Alpine Region into Bright and turning onto the Hume Highway close to Wangaratta.  We then headed straight down the highway reaching Coburg and the Melbourne Big4 Holiday Park around 4pm.  This is our home until we board the Spirit of Tasmania on Sunday heading for Devonport.

Having spent no time in Melbourne previously we have a full week to explore.  So if any of you readers have any tips on sights, social scenes or shopping please leave a comment and we will check them out!

We are seeing a diesel mechanic tommorrow to diagnose the “Beasts” overheating issues.  Hopefully this will be solved easily and we will be good to go by the end of the week.

Stay tuned…
