G’day all,

Today we travelled to Bushy Lagoon and a local 4WD spot and trail we had read about.  Unfortunately the recommended trip route proved to be a fizzer with little to offer in the way of challenging 4WDing.  In fact you could have mistaken the route for a scenic drive other than a patch of very bumby ground which follows the West side of the Bushy Lagoon (Dam).

Along side the dam are numerous camping areas most unlevel, muddy and somewhat unsuitable for a pleasant stay.

We turned off the track and followed a muddy firebreak track which looped back around to the main track after about 5 klm.  The track proved to be the most challenging terrain we found all day and with a little more rain would have proved to be very muddy and slippery and quite a challenge.  Email info@bushmanbud for more details on this side track.  We use Memory Map for logging all campsites and tracks so we can send you track info or a map image easily.

Personally, I like a challenging 4WD track that takes me somewhere.  This one failed to deliver and I would spend your time in a different area or on a different track.

    G’day Kirt,

Local knowledge is always the key and yes it would have been awesome to do some of the tracks that you know of. Thats the problem wjen you are cruising around, you miss alot of the good stuff cause you dunno where to look. Tasmania is reknowned in the West for its awesome 4WD, its just that we need a tour guide when we arrive. This is sort of like you coming to Perth and trying to find the best spots…I could take you right too them. Perhaps next time you could show us around?? We were following Chris Boden’s book which was our only insight into the area and the only track we were commenting on. Hope to catch you next time we are in Tassie.
